Romans Capítulo 6

KJV — King James Version · 23 versículos

1

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Spiritual Insight

Should we keep sinning so grace can keep growing? It's a logical question with a terrible conclusion. Paul won't let us go there.

2

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Spiritual Insight

We died to sin — how can we live in it any longer? If the old you has been buried, why would you dig it up and try to live in it again?

3

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Spiritual Insight

Baptism is a funeral and a resurrection in one act. Going under the water is joining Jesus in death; coming up is joining Him in new life.

4

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Spiritual Insight

Buried with Him and raised to walk in newness of life. The old patterns don't have to define you anymore — there's a completely new way to live.

5

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Spiritual Insight

United with Him in death means united with Him in resurrection. What happened to Jesus is being worked out in your own story.

6

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Spiritual Insight

The old self was crucified with Christ so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless. You don't have to serve sin anymore — the chains have been broken.

7

For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Spiritual Insight

Anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Death ends every obligation — including the obligation to sin's demands.

8

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Spiritual Insight

If we died with Christ, we will also live with Him. The same power that raised Jesus is at work in you, even if you can't always feel it.

9

Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

Spiritual Insight

Christ was raised from the dead and will never die again — death has no mastery over Him. That victory is shared with everyone who belongs to Him.

10

For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Spiritual Insight

The death He died, He died to sin once for all. The life He lives, He lives to God. That rhythm — once for all, then ongoing — is the pattern for our lives too.

11

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Spiritual Insight

Count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God. This isn't pretend — it's choosing to live in the reality of what has already been done for you.

12

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Spiritual Insight

Don't let sin reign in your body. It's an active choice — you have the authority to say 'no' now. Sin may knock, but you don't have to answer.

13

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Spiritual Insight

Offer yourself to God as someone alive from the dead, and every part of yourself as an instrument of righteousness. Your hands, your words, your energy — all for Him.

14

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Spiritual Insight

Sin shall not be your master, because you're not under law but under grace. Grace doesn't just forgive you — it frees you from sin's authority.

15

What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Spiritual Insight

So should we sin because we're not under law? Paul asks the same question again because the answer matters: absolutely not.

16

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Spiritual Insight

You become a slave to whoever you obey — whether sin leading to death or obedience leading to righteousness. Every choice is a loyalty vote.

17

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Spiritual Insight

Thank God that though you used to be slaves to sin, you've obeyed from the heart the teaching you received. That obedience started deep inside.

18

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Spiritual Insight

Set free from sin, you've become slaves to righteousness. It's not freedom to do anything — it's freedom to serve what's good.

19

I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Spiritual Insight

Paul uses human terms because we're human — just as you once offered yourself to impurity, now offer yourself to holiness. The intensity should be the same, just the direction has changed.

20

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

Spiritual Insight

When you were a slave to sin, you were free from righteousness. That kind of freedom is actually a prison — you just couldn't see the bars.

21

What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

Spiritual Insight

What benefit did you get from the things you're now ashamed of? Those things end in death. Looking back honestly at your old life can be painful but clarifying.

22

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Spiritual Insight

But now you've been set free from sin and have become God's servant — the result is holiness and eternal life. The trajectory has completely reversed.

23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Spiritual Insight

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. One is earned, the other is given. One is a paycheck, the other is a present.
