Proverbs Capítulo 16

KJV — King James Version · 33 versículos

1

The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

Spiritual Insight

Even when we prepare our hearts, the words that ultimately come from our lips are guided by God. There's comfort in knowing He's involved in both our planning and our speaking.

2

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

Spiritual Insight

We tend to justify our own actions, but God sees beyond the surface into our true motives. It's humbling to remember that His weighing of our hearts is far more accurate than our self-assessment.

3

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Spiritual Insight

What a beautiful promise — when we entrust our work to the Lord, He steadies our anxious thoughts. Commitment isn't about control; it's about trust.

4

The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Spiritual Insight

God has a purpose woven through all of creation, even in things we don't fully understand. This verse reminds us that His sovereignty extends over every outcome.

5

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Spiritual Insight

Pride is something God takes seriously — it's not just a personality flaw but something that distances us from Him. No amount of solidarity with others can shield us from the consequence of an arrogant heart.

6

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Spiritual Insight

Mercy and truth work together to cleanse us, and reverence for God is what truly moves us away from evil. It's not fear of punishment, but a deep respect that transforms our choices.

7

When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Spiritual Insight

When our life pleases God, He has a way of smoothing out even the hostile relationships around us. Peace with others often starts with peace with Him.

8

Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

Spiritual Insight

Having little but doing right is far more valuable than having much acquired unjustly. Contentment with integrity is a richer state than wealth with a troubled conscience.

9

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Spiritual Insight

We make our plans with earnest thought, but ultimately God is the one who directs where our steps actually land. Our planning and His sovereignty work hand in hand.

10

A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

Spiritual Insight

A leader who speaks with wisdom carries a weight of responsibility — their words carry the power of justice. This reminds us to pray for those in authority.

11

A just weight and balance are the LORD’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.

Spiritual Insight

God cares about fairness in even the smallest transactions. Honest scales aren't just good business — they reflect God's own character of justice.

12

It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

Spiritual Insight

Righteousness is the foundation that keeps any position of power stable. When leaders act wickedly, they undermine the very seat they sit on.

13

Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

Spiritual Insight

There's something deeply refreshing about honest speech, and even those in power recognize its value. Speaking truth with grace is a gift to everyone around you.

14

The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

Spiritual Insight

A leader's anger can be devastating, but wisdom knows how to bring peace. It takes skill and grace to defuse tense situations rather than escalate them.

15

In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

Spiritual Insight

When a leader shows favor, it brings life like a refreshing late rain. We can be that kind of presence for others — bringing encouragement and hope through our kindness.

16

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

Spiritual Insight

Wisdom and understanding are placed above gold and silver — that's an extraordinary claim. What we pursue says everything about what we truly value.

17

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

Spiritual Insight

Staying on the right path isn't complicated — it starts with turning away from evil. Guarding our way is actually an act of self-preservation and care.

18

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Spiritual Insight

This is one of the most quoted proverbs for good reason — pride truly does pave the road to ruin. A humble heart is our safest posture before God and others.

19

Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Spiritual Insight

Being humble among the lowly beats sharing wealth with the arrogant. Peace of spirit matters more than status or material gain.

20

He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.

Spiritual Insight

Handling situations with care and trusting God — that combination leads to genuine happiness. It's not about everything going perfectly, but about walking with wisdom and faith.

21

The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

Spiritual Insight

Wisdom in the heart shows itself in discernment, and gentle words actually help others learn more effectively. How we say something matters as much as what we say.

22

Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

Spiritual Insight

Understanding is like a spring that keeps giving life, but foolishness only produces more foolishness. What we feed our minds determines what flows out of us.

23

The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

Spiritual Insight

A wise heart doesn't just think well — it teaches the mouth what to say. When we grow in wisdom inwardly, our words naturally become more gracious.

24

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Spiritual Insight

Kind words are like honey — they bring sweetness to the soul and healing to the body. Never underestimate the power of an encouraging word spoken at the right time.

25

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Spiritual Insight

Just because something feels right doesn't mean it leads to life. We need more than our own feelings to guide us — we need God's wisdom to discern the true outcome.

26

He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

Spiritual Insight

Work is wired into us — our hunger drives us to labor. There's dignity in honest effort, and God designed this rhythm of need and provision.

27

An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

Spiritual Insight

Some people seem to dig up trouble wherever they go, and their words spread like fire. We need to guard our hearts against gossip and hurtful speech.

28

A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

Spiritual Insight

Gossip and whispering can destroy even the closest friendships. Words used carelessly can undo years of trust in a single conversation.

29

A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

Spiritual Insight

A violent person doesn't just harm others — they pull neighbors into destructive paths. We need to be discerning about who we allow to influence our direction.

30

He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

Spiritual Insight

Body language often reveals what's brewing inside — closed eyes and muttered lips can signal schemes being hatched. We should examine even our subtle gestures for honesty.

31

The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.

Spiritual Insight

Gray hair is beautiful when it comes from a life lived in righteousness. Aging isn't something to fear — it's a crown earned by faithfulness.

32

He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Spiritual Insight

Self-control is a greater achievement than military conquest. Ruling your own spirit requires more strength than defeating an army, and God honors that quiet victory.

33

The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.

Spiritual Insight

We may roll the dice, but God is the one who determines the outcome. Even in uncertainty, we can trust that nothing escapes His sovereign hand.
