Mark Capítulo 4
KJV — King James Version · 41 versículos
And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
Spiritual Insight
The crowd was so large that Jesus had to teach from a boat. Sometimes the best pulpit is unexpected — God's word goes wherever the people are.
And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
Spiritual Insight
Jesus used parables to teach — stories that carried deep truths in simple packages. He met people where their imagination lived, not just where their intellect operated.
Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
Spiritual Insight
Listen! A farmer went out to sow. Jesus began with an urgent invitation to pay attention. The seed was being scattered — the question was whether we're ready to receive it.
And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
Spiritual Insight
Some seed fell on the path and birds ate it immediately. There's a kind of hearing that's too shallow to hold anything — truth lands but never takes root.
And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
Spiritual Insight
Other seed fell on rocky soil and sprouted quickly. Fast growth isn't always healthy growth — sometimes enthusiasm without depth is just a precursor to withering.
But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
Spiritual Insight
The sun scorched the shallow plants because they had no roots. Hardship has a way of revealing what's real and what's just surface-level enthusiasm.
And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
Spiritual Insight
Seed among thorns got choked by competing growth. The issue wasn't the seed — it was the crowded conditions of the heart. Too many things competing for the same space.
And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
Spiritual Insight
Some seed fell on good soil and produced an incredible harvest — thirty, sixty, a hundred times what was sown. When hearts are truly receptive, the yield is beyond imagination.
And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Spiritual Insight
Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear. It's an open invitation with a hidden challenge — hearing isn't just about sound waves; it's about what takes root in the heart.
And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
Spiritual Insight
When the crowd left, the close followers asked Jesus to explain. Understanding often comes in private, after the public teaching is over. There's no shame in asking for clarity.
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
Spiritual Insight
The secret of the kingdom has been given to you. There's a kind of insider knowledge that comes not from intelligence but from intimacy with Jesus.
That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus quoted Isaiah — seeing but not perceiving, hearing but not understanding. It's possible to be in the presence of truth and still miss it entirely.
And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
Spiritual Insight
If you don't understand this parable, how will you understand any of them? This story is the key that unlocks the rest. Start here, and everything else begins to make sense.
The sower soweth the word.
Spiritual Insight
The farmer sows the word. Every time Scripture is read, every time the gospel is shared, seed is being scattered. The question is always: what kind of soil are we?
And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Spiritual Insight
Some people hear the word, and Satan snatches it away immediately. There's a battle for the first moment of hearing — a window where truth either takes hold or disappears.
And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
Spiritual Insight
Rocky soil represents people who receive the word with joy but have no root. Emotion without commitment is fragile. Joy that isn't grounded won't survive the first storm.
And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
Spiritual Insight
When trouble or persecution comes, they quickly fall away. Faith that hasn't been tested is faith that hasn't been proven. Depth comes through enduring, not just through excitement.
And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
Spiritual Insight
The seed sown among thorns — this is the subtle danger. It's not rejection or persecution that kills faith here; it's distraction and overload.
And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
Spiritual Insight
Worries, deceitfulness of wealth, and other desires choke the word. These aren't obviously evil things — they're just the normal stuff of life that slowly squeezes out what matters most.
And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
Spiritual Insight
Good soil people hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop. They're not perfect — they're just receptive, willing, and persevering. And the harvest is always more than they expected.
And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
Spiritual Insight
No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket. Light is meant to be seen, to illuminate, to guide. If God's truth has lit up your life, it's not meant to stay hidden.
For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
Spiritual Insight
Whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, whatever is concealed is meant to be brought into the open. God's truth has a way of coming to light eventually.
If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
Spiritual Insight
If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear. Jesus repeats this because it's that important. The door to understanding is always open — we just have to walk through it.
And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
Spiritual Insight
With the measure you use, it will be measured to you — and even more. The way you approach God's word determines what you get from it. Come with openness, and you'll receive abundantly.
For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
Spiritual Insight
Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not, even what they have will be taken. Spiritual growth compounds — the more you invest, the more you gain. Stagnation leads to loss.
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
Spiritual Insight
The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed and then just... lives. Growth happens, often without our understanding exactly how. God's work has its own quiet momentum.
And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
Spiritual Insight
Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows. The farmer doesn't make it grow — he just planted and trusted. Faithfulness is doing our part and trusting God with the results.
For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
Spiritual Insight
The soil produces grain — first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel. Growth is a process with stages. Don't despise the small beginnings; they're the path to full harvest.
But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Spiritual Insight
When the grain is ripe, the harvest comes. There's a right timing for everything. Patience in the growing season leads to joy in the harvest.
And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
Spiritual Insight
What shall we compare the kingdom of God to? Jesus loved finding everyday metaphors for eternal truths. Heaven isn't as far from daily life as we think.
It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
Spiritual Insight
A mustard seed — the smallest of all seeds. God's kingdom often starts impossibly small, barely visible, easily overlooked. Don't judge a movement by its initial size.
But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
Spiritual Insight
But it grows into the largest of garden plants, with branches big enough for birds to perch. From the tiniest beginning comes the broadest shelter. God specializes in small starts with huge outcomes.
And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus used many parables, as much as they could understand. He was a master teacher who calibrated His words to His audience's capacity. Grace meets us at our level.
But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
Spiritual Insight
He didn't speak to them without a parable, but privately He explained everything to His disciples. Public teaching sparked curiosity; private explanation deepened understanding. Both were necessary.
And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
Spiritual Insight
That evening, Jesus said, Let's go to the other side. The invitation to cross over came before the storm. Sometimes obeying Jesus means heading straight into rough waters.
And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
Spiritual Insight
They left the crowd behind and took Jesus along in the boat. Other boats followed too. There's something beautiful about a community that travels together toward Jesus' destination.
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
Spiritual Insight
A furious squall came up and waves broke over the boat. Following Jesus doesn't mean smooth sailing — storms can hit even when He's in your boat.
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
Spiritual Insight
Jesus was sleeping on a cushion while the boat filled with water. The disciples panicked, but Jesus rested. Peace isn't the absence of storms — it's the presence of trust.
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Spiritual Insight
He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, Quiet! Be still! And it was. The same voice that spoke the universe into existence now spoke calm into chaos.
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
Spiritual Insight
Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? Jesus' question wasn't condemnation — it was an invitation to remember who was in the boat with them.
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Spiritual Insight
They were terrified and asked, Who is this? Even the wind and waves obey Him! The disciples thought they knew Jesus, but each new revelation showed them they had barely scratched the surface.
