Romans 第 15

KJV — King James Version · 33

1

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Spiritual Insight

The strong should carry the weak — not just tolerate them, but actively bear their burdens. That's the opposite of looking out for number one.

2

Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

Spiritual Insight

Please your neighbor for their good, to build them up. It's not about being a people-pleaser — it's about being intentional with your encouragement.

3

For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

Spiritual Insight

Even Christ didn't please Himself. He absorbed the insults aimed at God. If the Son of God put others first, how can we do less?

4

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Spiritual Insight

Scripture was written for our instruction — to give us endurance, encouragement, and hope. The ancient words still do their work in modern hearts.

5

Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

Spiritual Insight

May God give you the same mind toward each other that Christ had. Unity isn't uniformity — it's shared purpose rooted in Jesus.

6

That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Insight

One mind, one voice, glorifying God together. There's something powerful about unified worship — when many voices become one chorus.

7

Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

Spiritual Insight

Accept each other the way Christ accepted you — completely, generously, without conditions. That's the standard, and it's breathtakingly high.

8

Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

Spiritual Insight

Jesus became a servant to the circumcised to confirm God's promises. He didn't come as a king first — He came as a servant to fulfill what was spoken.

9

And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

Spiritual Insight

And the Gentiles get to glorify God for His mercy. This was always the plan — the circle of praise keeps widening, and you're included.

10

And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.

Spiritual Insight

Rejoice, you Gentiles, with His people. The wall is down. The party is for everyone. What once divided now unites in celebration.

11

And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.

Spiritual Insight

Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles. The invitation to worship isn't limited by background or history. Everyone is welcome at the table of praise.

12

And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

Spiritual Insight

A root from Jesse will rise to rule the Gentiles, and in Him they will hope. Jesus is that root — growing from Israel's soil to shade the whole world.

13

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Spiritual Insight

May the God of hope fill you with joy and peace as you trust, so you overflow with hope by the Spirit's power. That's a prayer worth praying over anyone.

14

And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

Spiritual Insight

Paul genuinely believes in this church — full of goodness, filled with knowledge, able to instruct each other. That's high praise from an apostle.

15

Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,

Spiritual Insight

He writes boldly not because they need it, but because he cares too much to stay quiet. Sometimes love requires saying the hard thing.

16

That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

Spiritual Insight

Paul sees himself as a priest presenting the Gentiles as an offering to God. Your life's work, sanctified by the Spirit, is itself a sacrifice of worship.

17

I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.

Spiritual Insight

Paul glories in what Christ has done through him, not in his own achievements. His boasting has a very specific object — Jesus.

18

For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,

Spiritual Insight

He won't take credit for what he didn't do. Only what Christ accomplished through him — word and deed, by the Spirit's power. That's integrity.

19

Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

Spiritual Insight

From Jerusalem to Illyricum, the gospel has spread through miraculous signs and the Spirit's power. Paul didn't just talk — he lived the message.

20

Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation:

Spiritual Insight

Paul's ambition was to go where Christ hadn't been named. Not building on someone else's foundation — breaking new ground for the gospel.

21

But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.

Spiritual Insight

Those who were never told about Him will see, and those who never heard will understand. The gospel is always reaching further than we expect.

22

For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.

Spiritual Insight

Paul's been hindered from visiting Rome — not by lack of desire, but by the press of mission work elsewhere. Sometimes the delay is because you're needed elsewhere.

23

But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;

Spiritual Insight

Now there's no more room in these regions — the gospel has saturated the area. And that long-held desire to visit Rome is still burning.

24

Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.

Spiritual Insight

Paul's planning a Spain trip and wants Rome as a waypoint. He's not just passing through — he wants real fellowship, mutual encouragement. Travel with purpose.

25

But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.

Spiritual Insight

But first, Jerusalem — delivering a collection for the saints. Before his dream trip, there's a duty. Faithfulness to present obligations before future adventures.

26

For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.

Spiritual Insight

Macedonia and Achaia contributed willingly for the poor in Jerusalem. Generosity between churches across regions — proof that the gospel unites more than geography.

27

It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.

Spiritual Insight

If the Gentiles shared in the Jews' spiritual blessings, it's only right to share material blessings back. Spiritual debt paid in practical currency.

28

When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.

Spiritual Insight

Once this delivery is complete, Paul will head to Spain via Rome. He's a man with a mission — finish this task, then on to the next.

29

And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

Spiritual Insight

Paul is confident he'll come to Rome with the full blessing of Christ. Not empty-handed, but overflowing. That's the expectation of faith.

30

Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

Spiritual Insight

Paul asks for prayer — wrestle together with me, he says. Even the great apostle needed the prayers of ordinary believers. We're in this together.

31

That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;

Spiritual Insight

Pray for safety from unbelievers in Judea, and that the Jerusalem offering would be accepted. Practical requests from a man in real danger.

32

That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

Spiritual Insight

That I may come to you with joy, by God's will, and be refreshed together with you. Paul longs for mutual encouragement — he needs them as much as they need him.

33

Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

Spiritual Insight

The God of peace be with you all. After all the theology and travel plans, it comes down to this simple blessing. Peace — God's presence with His people.
