Mark 第 3
KJV — King James Version · 35 節
And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus entered the synagogue again, and there was a man with a shriveled hand. It's striking how often the places of worship are also places of human suffering, waiting for someone brave enough to care.
And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.
Spiritual Insight
They weren't watching to see a miracle — they were watching to build a case against Jesus. Some people go to church not to encounter God but to find ammunition.
And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus told the man with the shriveled hand to stand up in front of everyone. Healing sometimes requires the vulnerable courage of being seen in our brokenness.
And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
Spiritual Insight
To do good or to do evil on the Sabbath — to save life or to kill? Jesus' question exposed their priorities. When silence is the only answer, it reveals a lot.
And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus was angry and deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts. Anger isn't always sin — sometimes it's the right response to people who prioritize rules over compassion.
And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
Spiritual Insight
Instead of marveling at the healing, the Pharisees plotted to kill Jesus. Religious people can be the most dangerous when their power is threatened by compassion.
But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,
Spiritual Insight
Jesus withdrew — not out of fear, but out of wisdom. There's a time to confront and a time to step back. Even Jesus knew when to pull away from toxic opposition.
And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
Spiritual Insight
People came from everywhere — from distant regions and different backgrounds — drawn by what they heard about Jesus. Real hope transcends every boundary.
And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.
Spiritual Insight
Because of the crowds, Jesus had a boat ready — practical wisdom in the middle of ministry. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is make a practical plan.
For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.
Spiritual Insight
People pressed in just to touch Him, believing that even contact with Jesus could heal. Desperate faith doesn't need to understand everything — it just needs to get close enough.
And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
Spiritual Insight
Even the demons fell down and cried out His true identity. The spiritual realm had no doubt about who Jesus was — the struggle was with human hearts.
And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus told the spirits not to reveal who He was. He wasn't looking for demonic endorsements — His identity would be revealed through love, not through forced confessions.
And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus went up on a mountain and called those He wanted. The calling was personal and intentional — He didn't put out a general application; He named names.
And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
Spiritual Insight
He appointed twelve to be with Him and to be sent out. Notice the order: first relationship, then mission. We're not called to do things for Jesus; we're called to be with Jesus.
And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
Spiritual Insight
He gave them authority to drive out demons. Jesus doesn't just call us to a task — He equips us with the power to accomplish it. The authority always matches the assignment.
And Simon he surnamed Peter;
Spiritual Insight
Simon got a new name — Peter, the Rock. Jesus saw not just who Simon was, but who he could become. God always sees our potential before we live into it.
And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:
Spiritual Insight
James and John were nicknamed Sons of Thunder — maybe for their fiery temperaments. Jesus didn't rename them to mock them; He spoke to who they really were, passion and all.
And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
Spiritual Insight
The twelve were an unlikely mix — fishermen, a tax collector, a zealot — yet Jesus drew them together. God's team is always more diverse than we'd naturally choose.
And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
Spiritual Insight
Jasudas Iscariot is listed right there among the twelve — the one who would betray Him. Jesus chose him knowing what was coming. That's a love that's hard to comprehend.
And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
Spiritual Insight
The crowds were so intense that Jesus and His disciples couldn't even eat. Sometimes ministry is exhausting and overwhelming — even for Jesus.
And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
Spiritual Insight
His own family thought He'd lost His mind and tried to restrain Him. Following God's call sometimes means being misunderstood by the people closest to you.
And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
Spiritual Insight
The religious experts accused Jesus of being demon-possessed. When you can't deny the power, some people will attack the source instead.
And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
Spiritual Insight
Jesus answered with simple logic: How can Satan drive out Satan? A divided kingdom destroys itself. Sometimes the best defense of truth is just plain common sense.
And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
Spiritual Insight
A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. Unity isn't optional — it's survival. This applies to nations, churches, families, and friendships.
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
Spiritual Insight
A house divided against itself cannot stand. Even the closest relationships crumble when division takes root. Jesus was warning about something we all experience.
And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Spiritual Insight
If Satan opposes himself, his end is certain. Evil's greatest weakness is its inability to unite in love — only goodness has that power.
No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
Spiritual Insight
No one can enter a strong man's house without first tying him up. Jesus was saying He had the power to bind the enemy and set the captives free.
Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
Spiritual Insight
All sins and blasphemies can be forgiven — what an incredibly wide embrace of grace. No matter what you've done, the door is open.
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
Spiritual Insight
But blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This isn't about a single slip of the tongue — it's about a hardened heart that permanently rejects God's grace.
Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus said this because they were claiming He had an evil spirit. Calling good evil and evil good — that's where the real danger lies.
There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus' mother and brothers came looking for Him. Family concern is natural, but sometimes even loving families don't understand what God is doing.
And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
Spiritual Insight
Someone told Jesus His family was outside. The human Jesus had a real family with real concerns — He understands family tension better than we think.
And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
Spiritual Insight
Who is my mother? Who are my brothers? Jesus wasn't rejecting His family — He was expanding the definition. In God's kingdom, family is bigger than blood.
And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
Spiritual Insight
Jesus looked at the people sitting around Him and called them family. Everyone who follows God becomes family — connected not by DNA but by devotion.
For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
Spiritual Insight
Whoever does God's will is Jesus' brother, sister, and mother. Obedience creates the deepest bonds — closer than biology, stronger than blood.
