Ruth Capítulo 3

KJV — King James Version · 18 versículos

1

Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

Spiritual Insight

Naomi asks, 'Shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?' She shifts from receiving care to providing it. Even in her brokenness, she's thinking about Ruth's future. Love looks outward, even from a place of pain.

2

And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.

Spiritual Insight

Boaz is our relative, and he's winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor. Naomi has been watching and waiting for the right moment. Wisdom is knowing when God has set the stage and acting with courage.

3

Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

Spiritual Insight

Wash, anoint yourself, put on your cloak, and go down to the threshing floor — but don't make yourself known until he's finished eating. Naomi gives detailed instructions, combining preparation with patience. Sometimes the right action requires careful timing.

4

And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

Spiritual Insight

Note where he lies down, then go uncover his feet and lie down — he'll tell you what to do. It's a bold, vulnerable plan. Ruth is being asked to take an enormous risk, trusting that Boaz's character will make it safe.

5

And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.

Spiritual Insight

Ruth simply says, 'I will do whatever you say.' Her trust in Naomi is complete. Sometimes the most faithful response is simple obedience to wise counsel, even when we don't fully understand the plan.

6

And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.

Spiritual Insight

She went down to the threshing floor and did everything her mother-in-law told her. Ruth doesn't half-do it — she follows through completely. Obedience isn't just about agreeing; it's about doing.

7

And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

Spiritual Insight

After Boaz ate and drank and was in good spirits, he lay down at the edge of the grain pile. Ruth approached quietly, uncovered his feet, and lay down. The scene is charged with vulnerability. Ruth places herself entirely at Boaz's mercy.

8

And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

Spiritual Insight

At midnight, Boaz is startled and finds a woman lying at his feet. The midnight surprise is a dramatic turning point. In the darkest hour, something new begins. God often works in ways that surprise even the people He's using.

9

And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

Spiritual Insight

Ruth identifies herself and asks Boaz to spread his garment over her, for he is a kinsman-redeemer. She's not proposing romance — she's asking for redemption. 'Spread your garment' is a request for protection and marriage. She asks boldly for what is right.

10

And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

Spiritual Insight

Boaz blesses her: you've shown greater kindness now than before, by not running after younger men. He recognizes her character — she could have looked for an easier path but chose loyalty and righteousness instead. Integrity is deeply attractive.

11

And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

Spiritual Insight

Don't be afraid — I'll do everything you ask. All the city knows you're a virtuous woman. Boaz doesn't hesitate. Ruth's reputation has been building all along, and now it opens the door. Character is its own reward, but it also opens doors we never expected.

12

And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

Spiritual Insight

There's a complication — a closer relative who has first right of redemption. Boaz is honest about the obstacle. Integrity doesn't hide problems; it faces them head-on. A righteous man deals with reality rather than taking shortcuts.

13

Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.

Spiritual Insight

Stay tonight. In the morning, if the closer kinsman won't redeem, I will — as the LORD lives. Boaz makes a solemn oath. He's committing to do the right thing, no matter how it turns out. Faithfulness means being willing to follow through either way.

14

And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.

Spiritual Insight

She lay at his feet until morning, getting up before anyone could recognize another. Boaz says, 'Don't let it be known that a woman came to the threshing floor.' He protects her reputation. A good man safeguards the dignity of the woman in his care.

15

Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.

Spiritual Insight

He tells her to hold out her shawl and fills it with six measures of barley. She returns to the city carrying both grain and hope. Boaz sends her home with tangible evidence of his commitment — not empty words but weighted promise.

16

And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.

Spiritual Insight

Naomi asks, 'How did it go, my daughter?' and Ruth tells her everything. There's trust and transparency in their relationship. When we have someone we can tell everything to — the good, the scary, the uncertain — that's a gift.

17

And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.

Spiritual Insight

He gave me these six measures of barley, saying, 'Don't go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed.' Boaz couldn't bear the thought of Naomi having another moment of emptiness. His kindness extends to everyone in Ruth's circle.

18

Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

Spiritual Insight

Naomi says, 'Wait, my daughter, until you find out how things turn out — the man won't rest until the matter is settled today.' Naomi recognizes Boaz's character — once he commits, he follows through. Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is simply wait.
