1 Corinthians Capítulo 10

KJV — King James Version · 33 versículos

1

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

Spiritual Insight

The Israelites shared incredible experiences — cloud, sea, deliverance — yet many still fell. Spiritual privilege doesn't guarantee spiritual faithfulness.

2

And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

Spiritual Insight

Baptized into Moses through the cloud and sea — they were all identified with God's leader. Being part of God's people means being part of His story.

3

And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

Spiritual Insight

They all ate the same spiritual food. God provided for everyone equally — manna didn't discriminate. His provision is for all His children.

4

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Spiritual Insight

That Rock was Christ — present with them even in the Old Testament. Jesus has always been the source of living water for His people.

5

But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Spiritual Insight

Despite all they experienced, many were overthrown. Miracles and blessings don't replace the need for a faithful heart.

6

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

Spiritual Insight

Their story is a warning for us. When we see their mistakes, we should learn — not repeat. History teaches those willing to listen.

7

Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

Spiritual Insight

Idolatry isn't just carved statues — it's anything that replaces God in your heart. The golden calf was just a visible symbol of a deeper wandering.

8

Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Spiritual Insight

Twenty-three thousand fell in a single day because of sexual immorality. Sin has real consequences, and they can come swiftly. This isn't fear-mongering — it's honest warning.

9

Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

Spiritual Insight

They tested Christ and were destroyed by serpents. Complaining against God is more dangerous than we think — it reveals a heart that doesn't trust Him.

10

Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Spiritual Insight

Grumbling destroyed them too. A grateful heart is a shield — it protects you from the poison of discontent that eats away at faith.

11

Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Spiritual Insight

These stories weren't just recorded for history — they were written for you. God's Word is personal, meeting you right where you are today.

12

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Spiritual Insight

If you think you're standing firm, be careful. Overconfidence is the slip before the fall. Humility keeps you tethered to God's strength.

13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Spiritual Insight

Every temptation you face is common to humanity. You're not alone, and God always provides a way out. Look for the exit — it's there.

14

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Spiritual Insight

Flee from idolatry — don't flirt with it, don't negotiate with it. When something threatens to take God's place, the best response is distance.

15

I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

Spiritual Insight

Paul appeals to their wisdom. You don't need to be a scholar to discern God's will — you just need an honest heart willing to see clearly.

16

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Spiritual Insight

The cup and the bread are communion — sharing in Christ's very life. Every time you take communion, you're drawn deeper into union with Jesus and His people.

17

For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

Spiritual Insight

Many members, one bread, one body. In Christ, our differences don't divide us — they enrich the one community we share.

18

Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

Spiritual Insight

Those who eat the sacrifices share in the altar. Participation is never neutral — it always means identifying with something bigger than yourself.

19

What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

Spiritual Insight

An idol itself is nothing — but the worship behind it matters. The danger isn't the object; it's what your heart does with it.

20

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

Spiritual Insight

Behind pagan sacrifices are real spiritual forces. Paul warns against fellowship with demons — not because idols are powerful, but because the spiritual reality behind them is.

21

Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

Spiritual Insight

You can't have both cups. The Lord's table and the table of demons don't mix. Following Jesus means choosing — and the choice shapes everything.

22

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

Spiritual Insight

Are we stronger than God? Provoking Him to jealousy is a losing game. He desires our whole heart because He gave His all for us.

23

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

Spiritual Insight

Freedom without love isn't really freedom. Just because you can doesn't mean you should — the real question is whether it builds up or tears down.

24

Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.

Spiritual Insight

Don't just look out for yourself. Seek the good of others. When everyone cares about someone else, the whole community thrives.

25

Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

Spiritual Insight

Eat what's sold in the market without overthinking it. Faith gives you a clean conscience — don't let unnecessary scruples steal your freedom.

26

For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.

Spiritual Insight

The earth and everything in it belong to the Lord. When you remember whose world this is, you can receive everything with gratitude instead of anxiety.

27

If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

Spiritual Insight

If an unbeliever invites you to dinner, go and enjoy it freely. Grace means you don't have to interrogate every detail — just be grateful.

28

But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:

Spiritual Insight

But if someone points out it was offered to idols, stop — not for your own conscience, but for theirs. Love adjusts its freedom for the sake of another.

29

Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?

Spiritual Insight

Your freedom shouldn't be judged by someone else's conscience, but their weakness shouldn't be ignored either. This is the delicate dance of love.

30

For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

Spiritual Insight

If you're genuinely thankful, why let someone else's criticism ruin it? Gratitude is between you and God — guard it gently.

31

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Spiritual Insight

Whatever you do — eating, drinking, everything — do it for God's glory. This one principle can transform the most ordinary moments into acts of worship.

32

Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

Spiritual Insight

Give no offense to anyone — Jew, Gentile, or the church. Being considerate across cultures and communities is part of representing Christ well.

33

Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

Spiritual Insight

Paul sought to please others so that they might be saved. Not people-pleasing for popularity — but laying down preferences so the gospel has a clear path.
